Ultrasound Service in Alliance Medical Briarhill, Galway

Alliance Medical offers our Ultrasound service in Briarhill, Galway. Our scan centre is located conveniently in Briarhill Shopping Centre at LAYA Health & Wellbeing.  

An Ultrasound, also known as a sonogram, is a scan that uses high-frequency sound waves to create an image of part of the inside of the body, instead of radiation. Ultrasound scans are used to examine many different parts of the body, including the liver, pelvic organs, kidneys and gallbladder. The scan is painless and is suitable for use during pregnancy.  

During the procedure, you will be asked to lie, usually face up, on an examination table. A gel is applied to the skin and an ultrasound probe is moved over the gel to acquire the images. You are welcome to bring a friend or a relative with you to your Ultrasound scan, they can accompany you while you’re having the scan if you wish. 

For some Ultrasound scans, preparation may be required such as drinking water or fasting. Alliance Medical will share any guidelines with you in your appointment letter. If you do have any additional queries you can contact our dedicated Briarhill team before your appointment. 

Our Ultrasound service in Briarhill has scanning available 7 days per week by appointment. Please ensure that you have a referral letter from a healthcare professional before booking your Ultrasound appointment. Your GP can refer you for a scan via Healthlink and by emailing: briarhill@alliancemedical.ie
